I know they don't care but this is an example of why I will never knowingly give Apple any money.
I have, in the past, toyed with the idea of one of their desktops as they have some advantages over Windows and Linux machines but I refuse to give my money to companies who behave like playground bullies.

I don't understand why they don't sue other companies like Apple Auto Glass then, they seem to use the apple as their logo as well.

Until now I just wasn't an Apple fan because of their overpriced products and their unwillingness to support their products on Linux, but when you look at that Wikipedia page about all the legal actions Apple was involved in (and how awkward some of them are/were) I have another reason to not like Apple.

I cant stand Apple.

Generally, I cant stand any company, or any persons, that stand outside a store over night waiting for a new product.

It's all about greed with these big companies. They look for any possible means to make money from their products to patent trolling to suing. I bet they would even sue a little kid selling apple juice because the kid has an apple logo on their stand.

I'd be careful using the A-word here. Jeremy may get sued by the A-company. After all, it's obvious that we use the A-word here to lure unsuspecting visitors to LQ.

That's absurd. Not to mention that the .pl domain is reserved for Polish websites; how can they sue a Polish grocery store for using a Polish domain name? Next they will sue apple trees for producing apples.

Apple is playing desperate, frantic defense.

They know that Android is catching them on phones and will catch them on tablets. There was an interesting discussion on of this on SMLR this week.

They know that, once the cachet of their iGadgets fades before Android, they will no longer be able to charge twice as much for half as good for their iJunk.

Yeah, that's funny, but not really a big surprise.

You do remember that Apple (the manufacturer of nice, but wildly overpriced tech baubles) and Apple (the record company set up by four lovable moptops, and, in no way a copier of any tech trinket rip-off merchants) did have a legal run in, years and years ago. One of the outcomes was that the then computer company Apple was not allowed to get into the music purveying business. Guess what they did once their iPod was what they wanted to sell. Yeah, that's right, just had a case of corporate amnesia about what they signed up to.

(On a vaguely related similar theme to the original post, a certain fast food company called McDonalds went to court against a Scotsman called McDonald who had a fish-and-chip shop (Eee-iii-ee-ii-ooo, more or less). Essentially, the judge told them to grow up. In an ideal world, that's what judges are for.)

They really are taking a big chance with their reputation

• they are portraying themselves as 'corporate bad guys'; I'd guess that isn't who their target market wants to be buying from, or worshipping. You know, what with their 'be a rebel/1984 adverts'
• and also as hypocrites - never nice
• and in doing the anti-innovation thing, they are also less worship-able
• and, for my money, the kicker is that non-techies have already been misreading the '...vs Samsung' case as meaning that the court has decided that the Samsung tablet is identical to the Apple device (not something the court was actually asked about, nor something on which they were competent to decide, but...), and so the Apple one can't be worth any more than the Samsung (I'll point out that this was predictable, in the sense that I predicted it, but I don't expect any kudos for that, given that I didn't put it on line)

What I don't know is if this is just the new management trying to follow the teachings of St Steve (and doing it less well) or whether they are trying to kick out in a new, more hard-line, hard-nosed, direction of their own.

Steve had decided he was going to '...kill...' Android, and that didn't happen, and, right now, it looks more likely that his organisation will destroy itself trying to make this last wish come true.

We live in interesting times.
