New signature!

Just some of my favorite links for different stuff with Linux, and an attempt to help new Linux users. Thoughts?

(P.S. I came within one character below the limit :))

acid_kewpie 01-02-2010 01:25 AM

Thoughts? Ugly, messy, too large, patronizing.

lupusarcanus 01-02-2010 03:46 AM

Thanks a lot. Perhaps I should use a smaller font then?

pixellany 01-02-2010 04:17 AM

The way this comes across is this: "I have just discovered Linux, and now I am going to teach you all about it---even if you don't want to know." As a minimum, I would get it into a smaller font and eliminate as many words as possible. For example, delete these 3 lines:

Links underlined in blue (It's a standard convention.)
You will need a burnt Super Grub Disk for instructions. It's free (They'll figure that out when they go to the link.)
Anticipate changes for your distro with links (I don't even know what it says......)

Also, make something like this a link: Need MSOffice on Linux (No need for "HOWTO")

Way to big!

acid_kewpie 01-02-2010 02:23 PM

If people don't know that the blue underlined bits that change colour and make the mouse go funny when you go near them are links, they should just walk away now.

That sig, is HUGE. I would take out the [size[ tags and let it stay at default size. I find bold and italics typically generate enough emphasis

lupusarcanus 01-02-2010 03:47 PM

Ah, ok. I will go ahead and change it, ad post back the result. Thanks.

I don't mind constructive criticism, as long as it's NOT just plain rude and unhelpful. And Ubuntu is a Linux distribution, just like all others.

Anyways,I just made the font smaller, and took out some stuff, attempted to make it a little less patronizing, and fixed the MS Office and Adobe CS4 how-tos a bit, like pixellany said.

Hopefully that is better. Thoughts (now :))?

worm5252 01-02-2010 04:35 PM

It is much better.

He is just joking and picking at you. Relax a bit and don'[t take everything for face value

smeezekitty 01-02-2010 08:00 PM
