Netscape Mail
 

I am new to Linux and have been using Microsoft Outlook for many years and the one thing I was concerned with was finding a suitable and reliable email client and I have tried a few like evolution and sylpheed and now have been liking Netscapes builtin mail. I have three questions:

Is there any reason not to use that (bugs or opionons)?

Is the mail process able to be run outside of netscape (as of now I have to start netscape and then start the mail program)?

How do I go about backing up my files (and will backing up the folder the reside in, which I think is .mozzilla..., be a seemless recovery if I had to restore it)?

You should be able to just add the " -mail" arguemnt when it is run.

You may also be interested in hte Thunderbird project. It is an e-mail only offshoot from Mozilla which is based on the same code as netscape. For more info:

Mozilla rocks man. I love Firebird and Thunderbird. I like Firebird much more than full blow Mozilla.

I have both firebird and thunderbird and they look like spitting images of netscape and netscape mail (thunderbird is identical to a T to netscape mail)

even in windows i dont use Outlook, i use either Netscape Mail or Thunderbird. I think that Thunderbird is one of the best mail clients out there, and thats only the 0.2 version :D

That is because Netscape uses the mozilla code to make netscape.

Why not use the real deal...? Not a crapped up version made by netscape.

Mozilla products are where it's at :)

Jeez....I remember NCSA mosaic. The last version I used was the last one that would work with OS/2 2.1 (I can't remember the release number--2.0 I think). It was pretty powerful at the time, and fast too--even for a 2400 connection (remember that? :D). As a matter of fact, I think I still have a version of it zipped up somewhere on a floppy!
