Name the song

Time for a little game.

I say the relics or part of the song and you have to guess what it is. Once it has been guessed the person who gave the answer then gives some more lyrics or if they dont want to give any lyrics somebody else does.

Here are the lyrics to my first song. Its a good song and if you havent heard it a strongly recommend listening to it.

# The wall on which the prophets wrote
# Is cracking at the seams.
# Upon the instruments if death
# The sunlight brightly gleams.
# When every man is torn apart
# With nightmares and with dreams,
# Will no one lay the laurel wreath
# As silence drowns the screams.

# Between the iron gates of fate,
# The seeds of time were sown,
# And watered by the deeds of those
# Who know and who are known;
# Knowledge is a deadly friend
# When no one sets the rules.
# The fate of all mankind I see
# Is in the hands of fools.

# Confusion will be my epitaph.
# As I crawl a cracked and broken path
# If we make it we can all sit back
# and laugh.
# But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
# Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Didn't I already guess that one today,,,, in the woods?

Fine then. Ill give you a new song (BTW for those who didnt know. My last song was by King Crimson and was called Epitaph) This one is VERY easy. It is constanylt voted the second greatest song ever, and when it isnt the second greatest it is the greatest song.

# Is this the real life
# Is this just fantasy
# Caught in a landslide
# No escape from reality
# Open your eyes
# Look up to the skies and see

Try this one

How well I remember that terrible day
How the blood stained the sand and the water
And how in that town that they called Sulva bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny Turk he was ready he primed himself well
He chased us with bullets he rained us with shells
And in five minutes flat he'd blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back to Australia

Nobody? Windoze killa? Man you should know this one!

Is it on the "prehistoric" label? Then perhaps I'd know it.

I think it was originally penned sometime turn of the century.

Aye, but it's a pretty common song in some avenues. I'll give you a hint, it's by my favourite band...

Sounds like something Midnight Oil would write.

Wrong answer.

"waltzing matilda".

See if anyone can pick the owner of these lyrics.
Try to avoid searching the web. I would like to see if someone may know of the top of the head.

My eyes can see, my hands can feel
My ears can hear, my eyes can see
They can see everything, everything

A bird that flies, a bird that dies
And who knows why? But with my eyes
I can see everything, everything

And now the dawn is breaking
I see the dawn is breaking
And life seems very good to me
I see your face is smiling
Your bed looks warm, inviting
I feel your hand walk over me

I climb in bed beside you
The past is not behind you
You feel a little pain inside
And now our heads are whirring
It’s done, there’s no returning
You feel the little pain - it dies

My eyes can see, my hands can feel
My ears can hear, my eyes can see
They can see everything, everything

A bird that flies, a bird that dies
And who knows why? But with my eyes
I can see everything, everything
And who knows what it all means?
