my idea for getting MIDI music onto my music player

Someone gave me a Sansa Fuze+ music player, and I like it well enough, but since I like MIDI music and keep a collection of it, I was disappointed to find that it can't play my MIDI files, any more than a CD player could play them if I burned them to a CD. (Some of the MIDI music I've found online honestly is good enough that I'd occasionally listen to it when away from the computer.)

Then I got an idea. What if I record my MIDI files as WAV files and then convert the WAV files to OGG format?

I always used timidity and lame, I think. Or mpg123? I don't remember. timidity can change and midi to a wav, I think. Then lame converts wav to mp3 if I remember right.

I'll try that...it would probably produce better sound quality.
