multiple drives

I have 2 HDDs and I was wondering, is it possible to sort of switch each one on or off in the BIOS? So I could have one drive as my primary OS as it is now and then have the second one to use for testing and mucking about? I know I could just use a bootloader and install as many OSes as I want but I'd rather do it this way if possible.

Thanks for any advice

on or off how? .... it might be possible, but most BIOS,s probably don't support it ... but why would you want to?, (assuming you mean "off" as in the OS wont touch it) cant you just tell your distro not to touch that drive?

Try configuring your machine to use plug-in drives. You can get "racks" that fit into 5-1/4inch bays with plug-in trays that hold 3-1/2inch HDDs.
