Mozilla Thunderbird File compatibility between windows and linux

I was wondering If I back up my emails to files through Thunderbird in linux, will I be able to restore a backup and open those same files back in windows? Does anybody know?

A while ago I simply copied my entire Thunderbird profile from Windows to Linux. Worked like a charm.
