Mighty fine painting
Some humor for the day. :-)
This is currently in progress. Owner has been aware of this fine quality for several days. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1pmwktzrzf...ality.jpg?dl=0 |
Ouch...that...is sloppy. So, they had no budget for masking tape?

SOLVED
They used tape in some areas. The amount of time it would have taken to properly tape would have been far shorter than the extra time and expense of having to now paint the railing, fence, and other areas of over spray. I suspect the owners did not get recommendations before they hired them. |

I'm not so messy, however they may be doing light base and then dark trim as it already looks and thus a little extra paint on the trim isn't a big deal.
My style would be prime everything with exterior primer, thus making it all white, and then paint the base siding, if I slopped "a little" on the trim, so what? But as I say I probably wouldn't be so careless. Then when I paint the trim, it'd be all set regardless. My sadder part is, if the trim was to be white ... well ... "Primer is white :D" And then I'd be extra-extra careful on the base coat. If they sprayed that, and looks like they did ... they went hogwild. Whatever. So long as they resolve the trim in the end. It looks crappy now, but also looks like an aged house too. And maybe the owner is doing the project. Myself I barely have enough time to mow the lawn weeds. Exterior painting and finding good weather during non-work hours are incompatible things in New England during Spring rains. Then we snap into Summer temperatures overnight and everybody just wants to head to the beach. |
It occurred to me that they may be planning on painting the fence, rails, etc anyway.
In which case over spray would not matter. I am curious as to if they will go to rollers when it comes to painting the fence. They will have to use a brush for all the trim work and metal work. |
