SEATTLE, May 29 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and AOL Time Warner Inc. said on Thursday they had agreed to settle the media company's antitrust lawsuit against the software giant.

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft will pay $750 million to AOL Time Warner, the companies said in a statement.

The agreement includes a new royalty-free, seven-year license of Microsoft's browsing technology to AOL, and the companies said they will jointly develop and support steps for deploying digital media such as music and video over the Internet.

cool, but when the founder of the company alone has around $30 billion, $750 from the company doesn't seem that big of a hit

It does seem like pocket change, but there are a lot of other private lawsuits exactly like that one that haven't been resolved yet.

This is money from one loser company being paid to another loser company. No net benefit for the universe. But the one thing I can say to MS on this one is...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA:D :D :D :D

I would normall agree BUT.........

Microsoft just paid pocket change to put AOL firmly in its universe. Can you say Goodbye Netscape?

Open Source will be more valuable that ever after this.

I am sorry but in my opinion good riddance. With browsers like Opera who needs Netscape?

The reason I laugh is that is AOL is failing (albeit slowly) and it is looking like they will be sold by Time Warner. How many times has AOL sued MS and won, 10, 15 times? It's nothing new. Both of the companies are doomed, just on different time lines, IMHO..
