Here we go again. Microsoft trying hard, but not getting any closer on their stand against Open Source Software. I personally think they are scared, its something they clearly can't buy out. Here is the link: http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/industr...eut/index.html
why does bill care that damn much? he has enough money to feed all the hungry children in africa and china or whatever. he could probably buy everyone in the united states a pizza every week. i think if bill decided to live a more humble life instead of trying to rule the world, he would see that making his programs partly open-source would be a really great and charitable thing (he would probably get more business because people would respect him).
to me, it only shows fear from the big dog, if they had nothing to worry about, they wouldn't be talking so much crap. and besides, i don't know why they running to the government, doesn't the government use Linux. i know the NSA does.
I would have to agree that M$ really has issues with Linux. I wish they would just deal with it. They still have the most market share, and still make gobs of money. What they need to do is streamline their operations, and stop investing so much time and money into developing new operating systems that run pretty much the same as their previous ones. Case in point: Win98 is very similar to Win95 version 2; Win2K is very similar to NT and 98.
It would be very unrealistic to think they would ever release source code on their crappy OS, and even if they did, who cares? Would hackers really want to develop it, or would they stick with Linux? I hope they stick with Linux. To try to make M$ programs better, would be like trying to create a new kernel from nothing.. it would take way to long.
In conclusion, let them be scared. Let them worry. They should have built a product good to begin with, and not have used strongarm tactics. Then they may have had some sympathy from me. Now they can go down completely as far as I am concerned.
