Post MicroS Takes On the Free World...


It seems the coldwar between MS and free open-source s/w is heating up again. MS is considering going after Linux [mostly network s/w users] in what they claim to be several patent violations. Essentially they'd like to squeeze users for royalties much like the music industry did not long ago.
This also demonstrates the depth of resources available at MS. It's amazing that they have the time to go through 1000's of lines of code to find similarities.

They actually claim 235 rather than "several". Eben Moglen has also said some clever things about GPLv3 to take the wind out of their sails. Go now to Linux-News for both stories. As this particular link has already been posted, I am simply going to close this thread.
