Micro$oft

After the most recent Windows 2000 Pro update, which fixed gaping holes in the LSASS service, I went to use Front Page (a fairly older version) and discovered that it was de-installed. I mean, removed from my system, NOT BY ME. I have read on other forums of similar experiences from other Micro$oft users getting other applications de-installed without their permission or knowlege. In my opinion, this action borders on computer crime. Anyone else have a similar experience?

It hasn't happened to me but it sounds like a quirck in the license verification/activation scheme.

If you paid for Front Page (new or old) and this happened to a registered copy then I would certainly call good ole MS up and tell them what happened.

I'm guessing one of the fixes removes something which that Frontpage relies on, so Microsoft removed it rather than fixed it. Or they're just after some more cash.
I wouldn't really know however.

I have read of a similar problem with photo editing software in PC mag. I agree, that's not right, I think doz is coming apart, no joke!

yet another step for M$ in the world of TC,, everyone be ready to start hearing about this crap all the time, and perhaps bring a linux installation disk just in case :)

but its not illegal i don't think, as far as M$ is concerned, they own the software, you can only use it,,, they can do whatever they want (including install), and you cant do a damn thing except never install updates, and set a firewall up to block any nonessential services from connecting to the Internet, and NEVER install updates

This thread reminds me of something, is there a way to get to customer support free of charge? The few that condemned the German this week must have lost atleast half of their 250k reward dialing premium rate Microsoft help lines. I would rather call a s*x line and listen to a womans voice than call ms and listen to a former telesaler.

Why do they not just take command of their parents credit card and hire a server in north korea to do their work?

Now this would involve the employment of trained monkeys which would make too much sense to the monopoly....errr.....corporation known as MS. :D :D
