Marketing Linux

Do you think that eventually, someday, somebody will buy out all the linux distributors somehow, and linux will become like another microsoft company? I don't know if it would work, because really, that is the one reason why Linux is as little popular as it is, the GNU license and all..free.

Would you like to see this done (Give ol' Gates a run for his money)

Or just keep Linux as good as it is now?

I don't know if I would like to see it happened, but I'm getting signs of it already (those IBM commercials pushing Linux and all)

No I don't think so, as Linux doesn't belong to anyone (except, maybe,
all of us. Isn't there a passus in the GPL?)

>and linux will become like another microsoft company?
Linux doesn't belong to the distributors. Nor does KDE, Gnome, and
a lot of other stuff.

Linux being sold by a proprietor? Probably no. I would like to see it
free, because that makes competition possible.

But they don't own Linux.

The determination of the Linux community is amazing! I just found this:

http://www.tux500.com/index.php

It's called Tux 500. It is a community effort to raise enough money to sponsor a race car with the Linux name in the next Indianapolis 500. I already donated
