If you partake try reading a book drunk vs. a marijuana high? NOT that anyone should hold heavy machinery (except brains) to that test! ;)

Colorado: People Are Getting Marijuana DUI’s Dropped When They Go To Trial

When I was a teen smoking some really potent weed each day after work, got injured at a job. Pharmaceuticals told my bosses it looked like I was high at work, my direct boss did not care the other (I just met) let me go (no biggie.) But,,, even the non-potent stuff drops dirty for weeks; It comes down to trust (don't trust all law makers!?) Plus, don't drink, smoke or whatever when driving and such! (All law makers don't get that.)

Currently re-reading Mr Nice by Howard Marks -- he charectorised his trade as something like "distributing a natural, beneficial herb" and I can only agree. Personally, I prefer the much more dangerous ethanol and must only have smoked two joints in the last decade but I still hate that it's illegal.
As to driving -- I'd say that deliberately doing ANYTHING, including being overly tired, before driving isvery stupid. Yes, I have to admit, my blood alcohol level may have been over the legal limit when driving and, yes, I have knowingly driven whilst impared by the effects of alcohol but I regret it to this day (even though no harm was caused) and I have never and hope I will never set out to become impared by anything then drive.
Of course, as mentioned, THC shows up in urine for a month or so and can even spend years in fat cells and show itself a long time after.

Hasn't anyone ever wondered why outright poisonous plants (Nightshade, Philodendron, Oleander) haven't caused legislation? How can anyone outlaw a plant or at least justify such a crass concept especially in a supposedly free country?

jamison20000e 03-11-2016 01:26 PM

Good question? I know they soak some seeds in chemicals to make it harder for drug use and\or abuse. Like someone would abuse "LSD?"

enorbet 03-12-2016 02:54 AM

Ig you're referring to Morning Glory seeds, I'm pretty sure that technically that's "amide" not "diethylamide". So in keeping with the German designation for acid - "saure" (sp?) - it would be LSA not LSD. However though that's nearly as unconscionable as Paraquat far worse things have been done to common food seeds by Monsanto. Despicable.

jamison20000e 03-12-2016 09:46 AM

You are correct, I thought of putting foh-LSD but forgot the term LSA from textfiles.com + + ;) ...plus, didn't think anyone would go that deep. :jawa:

jamison20000e 03-12-2016 10:04 AM

Add: just to clarify LSA on a street level (because it is illegal) is called LSD and gives the same effect. LSD\LSA is dangerous tho and for that I have supported Salvia Deformation in this thread. I find it appalling that religions based on a non-toxic leaf are rendered illegal especially where as you pointed out freedom reigns supreme???:confused::rolleyes::p

enorbet 03-12-2016 01:46 PM

Especially considering the fact that there are many people (Big Thinkers) who have had major positive impacts on the Present and Future of Mankind (even a couple Nobel Prize winners) who have ingested LSD, I have to conclude that it is largely the illegality itself responsible for any danger (not to mention cost) in it.

Illegality seriously impedes meaningful, serious discussion and dissemination of information and reduces manufacture to "hit or miss" levels of lab quality. It seems that much of the perceived dangers in most psychoactive substances occurs when they are mixed with testosterone (nudge, nudge, wink wink) :D. Of course I am referring to inane, illogical young male peer group pressure to "prove one's mettle" by flaunting how much one is able to consume, as if all metabolisms were identical. One of these eons Homo Sapiens might actually mature and wise up, but I am 100% convinced even the great grandchildren of anyone here will be long dead before that happens. We are but a short distance down from the trees, Biologically. It is actually rather difficult to comprehend why any government finds it not only worthwhile, but mandatory, to legislate individual morality when it has no effect on anyone else in that civilization.

I know Racism plays a huge part as does Religion but I have to conclude that the Big Money (almost always the raison d'etre behind legislation) is simply that creating Contraband is profitable and that, in combination with the other two, creates the tipping point. It's the only mechanism I can come up with why governments don't just say, "Not our job, Man! Research the facts and police your own family!"

As far as I understand it the DEA and other organisations are just money-making schemes for politicians and the agents are generally criminal scum.
Sadly, our societies have become so complicated that such heinous individuals are allowed to walk around free. Please check any history of DEA and the like if you doubt me.

Pretty much that. Also remember that here in the states you have private prisons. So they all go hand-in-hand. If Marijuana were legalised the DEA and prisons would lose a lot of money in incarcerations.

Well, yes, the USA is fairly famous for having he largest slave* labour force in the world in the shape of its jailed and imprisoned ex-citizens**.

*I use this with deliberate, historical meaning. Again, if you doubt my meaning look it up.
**Since one accused of a crime in the US becomes a non-citizen with virtually no rights.

Pretty ironic right? The so-called 'the most free country in the world', but has the largest prison population. The People's Republic of China, and many others should take their cues from us perhaps.

I wish I could grow it legally. Years back a friend grew a few plants for somebody else (I really don't recall if I ever knew the arrangement) and what struck me was that, while these weren't "skunk" they were fairly decent marijuana plants grown in plant pots on the floor of a small south-facing room and they shot up. We thought they ought to be more potent because the air was often thick with smoke but I doubt that was the case.
My point being, though, that if it were legal to grow and use I'd guess a few of us might grow some unremarkable plants in order to smoke some unremarkable grass sometimes (thing home brewing) and a few people may smoke a bit more. I fail to understand why governments insist that allowing the growing of a plant and the smoking of its leaves will somehow turn everybody into crackheads.
I know "the great binge" and the like could be cited but, surely, the possibility of employment, healthcare and non-poverty are such that, nowadays, most of the people who would just become "drug users" and nothing else have done so already?
Oops, ranting again. If only I could roll a joint to calm me down...
