making gdm themes

has anyone made or know of a link that would give advice on how to make one.

i've searched but it seems like the only links that i have found are how to install gdm it self or how to change the theme.

i would like to put my own theme on the login, but haven't figured it out. i've cped people's xml files and then the jpg that i want and still nothing.
