Making an xp cd.

I finally convinced my brother that linux was the way to go. He however still wants to keep windows for games. Unfortunately his computer is one of those compaqs that comes with windows taking up all the space. This wouldn't be a problem if I had a xp cd. I would just delete the partition. Use a bootdisk, repartition it then install windows on the reduced partition. But I don't have an xp cd. His was on of those computers that comes with a recovery partition instead. I looked at the list of commands from the recovery partition and there doesn't appear to be an option to reinstall windows. Just commands like fixmbr and so on. I did alot of searching and found people making backup cds from their windows cds. I was just wondering if there is a way to make an xp cd from the system he has now.
Thanks
Kyle

How about you look for an I386 folder on his HD. If you find it, just burn it to CD. It won't be bootable but you could still install XP with it.

You would simply go into the i386 folder and run Winnt.exe at a command prompt (outside of windows - like from a win98 boot disk).

or you could use a Mandrake disk to resize the partition(s) and create new ones (i believe mandrake still allows this???)
