Making an MP3 Player play OGGs

Hi,

I was given an Aigo 128 MB MP3 player, and I was wondering if it can be 'converted' to play OGG files as well. It basically looks like a standard USB stick.

BTW The player works fine with Linux as a USB drive.

Then encode it as a mp3 file.

if you want to modifi de device, you will need to physically change the device. it is next to imposible, as you will need to add aditional components etc.
Even if you succed, you will have broken the warrenty.

He's right. Don't attempt to load OGG files to your MP3 player, because they simply won't play. Also its not an entirely good idea to directly convert your OGG files to MP3s either (or vice versa for that matter). The reason is that both MP3 and OGG are lossy codecs, meaning that in order to do their compression they throw away some parts of the original audio waveform (recovery of the original waveform is impossible). MP3 and OGG throw away different parts of the waveform, so if you attempt to convert an OGG to an MP3 then both formats will modify the waveform in their own way, which may result in a noticeable decrease in audio quality.

If you have the original .wav of your OGG files, you should convert that to MP3 directly.
