Mails are merged and sends to un intended recipient


Hi,

We are monitoring network devices through shell scripts.we send alert mails whenever the device down .Now , the issue is the mails are send to wrong persons and it looks like merged with other mails.Please guide....

You could reorganise so that the people getting the mails are now the right people. That would be easier than posting any details of your scripts or mail configuration.

Thanks for your reply..We will work on the same..But still if we get approximate root cause for this ..that would be better...

Hi Boopathi,

Though the thread is quite old, I would like to follow it up.

Generally there is no reason the system will behave as you said. So the problem must be in the shell script and your understanding of the mail client (mailx or mailx in a wrapper?).

Please post the shell script code or at least the relevant potions. Till then we won't know the exact problem.
