Long URLs - Slowing computer down?

I have been having problems on all the computers I have been seeing, in that they are all slowing down. I am wondering if it is the long URLs that are being sent by idiot programs. I forwarded a link from Yahoo Personals to my other computer (running win 98SE and Mozilla 1.4.1), and it screwed the "In Box" up, making it way wider than the screen. I then clicked on the link, and when I went to it, I bookmarked it. Then I opened the bookmarks, and was able to look at it. It had HUNDREDS of characters. I could not believe it!

Is this what might be slowing all the windows computers down? How does Linux deal with those stupid long URLs?

Is there anywhere that has a forum dealing with these kind of programming problems?

A long URL should not slow a computer down. The length of the path has no impact on loading web pages or resources on a computer as it in itself represents only a few bits of total data. The problem resides elsewhere most likely, perhaps a connection issue. Are all applications slow currently or just the loading of web pages?

All things are slow. Downloading Debian, I was getting one disk to the other computer getting 4 or 5 while both were connected to the same cable hub.

That only describes a slow network connection.. are you having network problems perhaps?
