Linux World Boston

Linux World Boston first day.

Note to self: Do not go to expos on the morning of the first day. Nothing is set up yet.

Well I saw a lot of boxes and empty vendor booths.

I could have helped out if I said that I was the designer; but I have work to do ya know.

Where is Jeremy?

Oh well maybe they will be all set up by tomorrow.

When will a Linux meet like that come to India? I think it'll be a great publicity and also let us meet our heroes of the Linux world!

Looking forward to the day.

If anyone is in Boston and plan on coming to the Expo, and want free passes, post your name and description here and one of our lovely mods will meet you out at the entrance to give you a free pass. And of course, the day you plan to attend. We have plenty of passes to giveaway.

Linux World Boston second day.

The Exhibit hall today was filled with vendors and linux enthusiats.

I met Jeremy, shook his hand and welcomed him to Boston.

I also got to meet Warren from Simply Memphis and I talked with him about my experience with the Live CD. I hope that he can get Memphis to have better compatibilty with older hardware but only time will tell if that will happen.

I also talked to the guys from Emporerlinux. They showed me a pre-release Sharp Notebook that has a special 3D LCD monitor Which lets you get a good look are chemical and particle models. (something to think about for you MedTech/Scitech folks.) The Sharp Notebook was running Debian (I don't which version)

The guys at Emporerlinux custom build linux notebooks from Windows release notebooks. So every laptop they sell is Unique.

Most of the Big Name Vendors where there taking up a lot of space: IBM, Novell, Oracle, O'Reilly, SAMs, SourceForge, etc.

My vote for most annoying vendor goes to Virex (I think that is their name). I had a batman model lecture me on the virtues of his product and he invited me to come to lecture at 11am.

Virex had Batman, Spiderman, Wonderwoman and other superhero models reeling in the customers.

I just can't take a vendor seriously when the have superhero garbed models hawking the product.

Well that just about covers my experience on day 2.

Maybe I can drop in tomorrow to see some of the other vendors that I did not get a chance to really talk to.

Thorn.
