I would like to invite anybody that has a website that contains Linux instructions, distro info, forum or personal websites that have a variety of things including Linux.
No that I have invited people why did I start yet another toplist. Well the answer is simple. There is nothing specifically targeting Linux users. You have websites that link to each other, Google linux and thats about all I could find. I am in the process of starting a few things to help further bring the Linux community together. One of them is getting those who have personal websites that have links to other websites, example music, games, etc, that is compatible with Linux programs. A lot of places now have somethings but not all and it can get frusutrating finding places, like music, videos, games and so on that work with Linux. I am tired of going to a website to find a message that says that you need windows media player or that they do not support Mac's at this time(and I don't even own a mac, lol.) This way things can be pieced together before hand for people new and veterans. This will also help to show others, businesses, etc, that we are here and growing in numbers.
Also many still have this idea that you need to be a computer geek to understand and use linux. This is false. The advances that have been made are great and make it very easy for the average user as well as the advanced user.
Another reason would be to get together all the good websites, Like LQ, Distrowatch, TLDP together on one list.
I do not see this as a competition type list but one that brings things together.
I have already submitted my website to several search engines and once the Linux toplist has at least ten websites I will be submitting that as well. Among other advertising.
Also this toplist is new. And they leave a lot of the details to me and I am still fine tuning it.
If anyone is unsure of the type's of websites I am talking about then go to mine, and look around LQ. These are the types of websites I am talking about.
Right now it is a general Linux toplist. Once there are more websites on it then I will split it off to, for ex., Personal Linux websites(like mine,) Informational(Like LQ,) Distro Specific, linux webring toplist, etc.
Any questions please e-mail me.
