Linux is a waste of time!

I used to hate win and now I hate linux to. The only thing linux is usefull for is security and I never cared about that anyway. All I wanted was something fast that works, apparently I have to wait like 20 years for that. At least when win don't work you can blame Bill, but whit linux it's all your own fault for not being a programmer that can re-wright every app that don't work. Can't even get bittorrent or some simple mediaplayer to work on this stupid thing, I discover a new bug about once a min that I have no idea how to fix. Like glxgears for example gives me anything from 350 to 4000, now isn't that accurate

Well thanks for all the help you people have given me, but now linux is going down...

ddu_ 12-21-2004 09:51 AM

It's easier to walk away than learn.

tripmix 12-21-2004 09:54 AM

I have learned, learned that it don't work.

As is this thread. You are aware that rants go in General, aren't you?

With our user base growing worldwide, I hardly think that "linux is going down...".

Reported for a move.

tripmix 12-21-2004 10:01 AM

I meant linux is going down in my house. As for were to post I don't care anymore since I'm not coming back.

Cornholio 12-21-2004 10:12 AM

It is funny how much you care about Linux although you hate it so much ...

Go back to C-64 if you are not willing to learn a bit more about Linux. Maybe that will not cause so much traffic in your CPU ...err... brain :-)

tripmix 12-21-2004 10:22 AM

learn more!!! There isn't a fu*king page on the net I haven't read, and it took me 4 months to configure this machine and it still don't work like it's suposed to. And yes, after all this time I do care about linux but it is making me even more insane than win ever did. And don't come here critisising my brain when you are using Slack, you moron.

ddu_ 12-21-2004 11:14 AM

Would you prefer us to criticize your grammar?

It's not worth your time to argue your dislike of linux to a community full of linux users.

egag 12-21-2004 11:14 AM

you don't like windows, you don't like linux
maybe you just don't like computers.

and there's no critics about your brain, it's the lack of brains that was the subject.
maybe just dig-up your typewriter and post us by mail how you're doing.

good luck

egag

Actually I like Linux because it's challenging. It can be frustrating at times. That's the problem with Windows. They made it so simple that the average user never learns how to fix things when it's broke.

coolfrog 12-21-2004 11:27 AM

It seems that computers aren't meant for guys like you.

After all the effort you can't get stuff done !!! Are you by any chance involved in programming Window$......seems more like it.

XavierP 12-21-2004 11:31 AM

Ok everyone. At least once a month we get these threads. He's gone, he's not coming back, Linux sucks, blah blah blah. That's fine. I hope that when he first decided Windows wasn't good enough that he did the same on their forums/newsgroups.

Some come back, some stay away, it's the nature of forums. Let's try to keep this from getting personal, yeah. Linux isn't for everyone.

Tinkster 12-21-2004 01:09 PM

and I think that it should be disposed of by pushing it
to General since it's not a Linux-technical question...

i know what he feels. i am a sarge user too, migrated from windows a year ago.
please try to understand that people may have unrealistic expectations when they start to invest their time to linux and wipe win. i had. and i went back to windows 2 times before abandoning it completely. tried mandrake, fedora 1&2, slack and debian.
for me it seams that he has really tried. itīs not a matter of brain. itīs a matter of experience and dedication. if you are fluent with computers and do programming it is a bit easier to understand new stuff. i am not, and so i have to learn everything from scratch. it is not easy when you have to go to earn a living during a day, study in university in the evening, maintain a realtionship to opposite sex and meet your friends.
i really symphatize with those who make funny comments about threads like this. who cares if someone goes back to windows. i donīt and i wonīt.
but, the reason for heīs frustration is the same that i have experienced in a couple few months: debian testing has gone bad. really. i have 2.6 kernel (not default) and some optional packages running (gnome-volume-manager most notably). this has caused some weird stuff: kernel doesnīt support atapi cd-writers at the moment (bug) and if i go back from 2.6.8 to 2.6.7 the volume manager & discovery go crazy when i chmod my hdc to 666 for k3b (terminals flood "cdrom"-text and i cd slew closes itself right after opening). so, testing is very unstable with some packgages at the moment.
iīv had debian sarge for a long long time and this is the first time i am frustrated at it. it seems that when sarge goes stable i will definetly stick to it and not continue testing, at least on my friensīs computers that i administer.
well, it comes absolutelyt without guarantee :)
i hope this nice fella findīs heīs os of choise. at the moment os x is mine.
