Les Stroud or Bear Grylls

I have the distinct honor of not only being a network administrator, but an outdoorsman. Cub scouts, mountain climbing, hiking, etc in the apalachians of Wva and the UP of michigan.

So, with that said to explain my curiosity, ATM i am watching an episode of Surviorman, and Im wondering which personality you prefer, Stroud or Grylls?

I'm not at all fond of Bearsh*t Grylls. I call him that because of his favorite food item I can't watch anything with him in it, because he's just a sicko. I think he may survive for a while, but die of food poisoning in the end.

Many of his survival tips are complete BS as well.

Les Stroud is IMO a huge amount better than Bear Grylls. Les is my favourite of all the 'survival' shows.

Bear Grylls just feels 'plastic' to me.....and I dont think his 'leap around a lot' style makes any sense in a real survival situation. Or even in a 'outdoors for the fun of it' situation.

Les Stroud has always felt far more genuine to me, and I think his survival tips are more real as well.

Don't know Les Stroud. Bear Grylls is just a twat. I like Ray Mears.

Actually, I've watched some shows with Ray Mears and he seems to be the most reasonable among them, so I agree.

Well,.. thats why Bear Grylls adverts ended up saying "He doesn't show you how to survive, he shows you how to live." Probably because of the endless conversations and comments just like ours that point to him being more of a thrill-seeker than a survivalist.

And yeah,. the eating poo and eyeballs, and drinking piss thing is basically what he is known for. Stroud admitted that in a bad situation you could live on your urine for a minute, but he doesn't once go out of his way to do so on his show. So I commend him for that.

Les Stroud gets my vote any time.

I don't recommend drinking your own urine in virtually any situation. Due to its osmolarity it can be as bad as drinking salt water. You could try to distill it tho. Or better yet, just find a source of water.

I keep thinking "How is he (Bear Grylls) not dead yet ?" I like the other guy better.
Prefer "Dual survival" with Dave Canterbury and Cody Lundin.
