Lappy heats.... A LOT
Hi :)
Long time no see... I have a problem with my lappy, it has debian squeeze installed, suddenly it started heating A LOT, at startup cpufreqd fails to start, when i try to start it, this message pops up : root@iskandhar:/home/alex# /usr/sbin/cpufreqd -D get_class_device_attribute: couldn't open /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXSYBUS:00/PNP0C0A:00/power_supply/BAT0/energy_full (No such file or directory) get_class_device_attribute: couldn't open /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXSYBUS:00/PNP0C0A:00/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now (No such file or directory) I don't get this... dis these files simply vanished into thin air...??!! Is this a HW problem or a SW problem...? temperatues idle at 69 70's ºC, when they should be at the 40s ºC at idle activity... What would you soggest me to do...? Brgds Alex |
Seems that the fan is not working... :(

Have you tried opening up your computer and cleaning the dust out?
|
…or if you don't want to take it apart (and believe me, I know how unnerving it is to take apart something like a laptop :p), another idea might be to just take a can of compressed air and spray it into the lappy's fan vents… :-\

Hi
Thks MrCode, Konphine I have solved it... I have reinstalled cpufreqd, and it works fine now... I just don't understand how might cpufreqd have "unfixed" itself just like that... At startup, the log messages stated that cpufreqd failed to start, due to those missing files... Now, log messages are OK... very strange all this... Tks anyway buddies.. :) BRGDS |
I don't seem to have cpufreqd on any of my boxes. Did it come with your distro or did you install it?

Hi frankbell
I have installed it from Synaptic in my Debian Squeeze... I have the whole distribution DVD set, about 8 of them... |
