kernel patch types
i was just over at www.kernel.org and i was wondering what are all the different patch types? what do they do and how are they different? are they all just patching different sections of the kernel and then placing it all together before final release? anyone know anything about this?

The -ac and -dj patches are administered by Alan Cox and Dave Jones, respectively. They contain code that is usually more experimental, and thereby less stable, than the official release.
The snapshot kernels are the nightly collection of all the project developers' code. It's an automatic creation, so it might not even compile, depending on what somebody is working on that day. |
Linux looks at other peoples trees sees what he likes and includes that in the main tree.
