Coffee is indeed still popular among IT and software development professionals. As it is among office workers of most fields.

Some of the older (now retiring) IT geeks I've worked with seem to prefer a half dozen+ bottles of Coke each day. So your question's wording - still - struck me as a little amusing. ;)

As for me, I drink copious amounts of coffee and tea daily.

Here in our organization and certain offices around, tea is preferred than coffee. Though coffee is also available through the vending machines. But that does not give the real taste of a fresh brewed coffee.

Well my profession involves nothing to do with computer, so i probably don't count, but i do go on my laptop almost every smokeo and lunch and i spend my share on the computer, just ask my ex girlfriend. Anyways, i don't drink a lot of coffee, i just go for the good ol water, or if i'm home, a nice bourbon or absinthe.

Coffee is very convenient when you rig up an I.V. to let the stuff go straight into your veins ... You can get 'em at Starbucks. ;)

I dont drink coffee or any other caffeine drink at work. Like all simulants, getting on it means you have to stay on until you've finished the task, or else you crash. I'll bet that someone here is thinking 'you're making coffee sound like a drug'. Yes I am, and yes it is. Try not drinking coffee for a few months then having a short black or 3, you'll be as high as a kite.
