These kind of questions in message boards always surprises me:

Is Halo 2 coming out for Mac?
Is SuSE 10 coming out before Christmas?
Is Britney Spears releasing a new album this winter?

I don't want to be peek, but how would anyone know this unless you actually work for Microsoft. Then again, why somebody who works for Microsoft would be doing in a Linux forum giving away "privacy" details for an Operating System which will take years to be released?.

The only true answer is: nobody _knows_, but many believe they do, or just made stuff up... speculation, you know . Yet, google is your best friend:

Hope you don't take this in the wrong way though... I didn't mean to be a bitc*.

Regards!

the reason i asked is because i coudnīt find official confirmation from microsoft. i though that someone may know a link that confirms this. believe me, i googled a lot before posting. it ainīt that hard, u know.
and the reason for post was there: it would be pretty big downgrade if avalon wouldnīt make it. then longhorn would be just xp 2nd edition.
but i agree, one could wait to read this from some reliable source before posting if one would like to appear smarter than he/she is.
hereīs the other stuff:
1. halo is not coming for mac
2. suse 10 is not out before christmas
3. britney will release a new album this winter

i do believe i remember reading that M$ will be dropping a few (or was it a lot?) of avalons features ...

based on a list i saw of what they were planing to drop (on some new site) it looks like it Will be just xp rewritten, then a year or so after it might get some interesting features (but in the time it takes for them to do that, I'm hoping programs for Linux will get a lot better, like those 3d file browsers )

all in all, most features they were trotting around aren't supposed to be in the initial release
