installable fedora core cds from ISO image
I have downloaded the core ISO files (FC4-i386-disc1/2/3/4/rescuecd.ISO). I am running MS Windows XP and I have copied these ISO files into 5 CDs. While rebooting my system, I have changed the boot sequence to CD first (IDE drive) and have inserted my disc1 into the CD drive. However, the system does not recognize this disk as the bootable disk. I know there is something wrong while I have burnt these CDs using Roxio 5.0 CD burner software which does not make the CD bootable.
Thanks in advance for any help. asahoo I have used the following S/W for burning the 1st CD. Still I could not make it bootable. http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/HowTo.htm |

you need to use your burning software's built in ISO-burning function just putting ISO itself on a disk will not work |

Keep in mind that in our world, C: is /dev/hda1 and if D: is a partition, then it's /dev/hda2 or if it's another physical disk, then it's /dev/hdb1. So, C:\Fedora becomes /dev/hda1/Fedora. Do note that the "\" delimiter in Windows is "/" in Linux. Now, what you've done here is that you're installing from iso images that are on your hard disk. This will be comparitively faster that a normal CD Rom install. However, you must have at least ~3 GB ( = 4 CD's) free space on a hard disk partition that will not be formatted or deleted during the install. Have fun ! |
