Info on sanatorium ram : singapore
Hullo all,
-=- computer ram sticks -=- -=- computer ram modules -=- I decided to up my ram from a 1GB dual pair ddr400 (ddr1),(pc3200) to a 2Gb dual pair. I'm trying to get some information on ram sticks. With a brand name of 'sanatorium', from Singapore ... based on what was shown to me on looking into a couple of local computer shops. I didn't have my classes on at the time, but the brand name is either that or sounds/looks very similar. At around 65 to 75 dollars for a 1Gb stick they sounded grossly under priced for .au. Even with the high current dollar rate. So i'm smelling a bit of a 'smirf' in their direction at present (grin). And as i haven't heard of them before i though i 'd try a search ... nothing appears to be available though. The usual searches haven't turned up anything as yet ... And a search on 'computermarket' ... a local on-line supplier i'm registered with, hasn't got any references to them too ... preferring cosair and kingston, at what, as i remember, a more correct price. I'm wondering if any one knows anything about these modules/company ? Also wondering on, what to look for on a stick to get its' cas/ras rating. That is ... the 4 numbers, such as, 2,2,2,2 2.5,3,3,3 etc ?? memcheck rates my current giel ram as the second, but there dosen't seem to be anything on the stick or box to suggest that. And i can remember the counter person where i bought them pretending he was deaf when asked at the time too (grin). TIA jm Wise old Hekawi saing #357 ------------------------------ Never let any of your mates tie you to the train tracks, However they put it across ... Somebody stole my air guitar, It happened just the other day, But it's ok, 'cause i've got a spare ... |
Could that brand name have been "Strontium"?
As in "Strontium 1GB DDR400 (PC3200)" If so my current favourite supplier sells them for au$46, or would if they currently had any in stock - http://ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/index.php?cPath=478_102 I had a bit of a look around for you and Strontium is a US company that makes RAM from chips made by Hynix, I've never heard of either of them before. Neither company will list the chips Cas/Ras/page rates. http://www.i-tech.com.au/Library/Inc...%20Dimm%20(D4H) If you could run it, DDR2 is much cheaper. It's a shame but as the older technology stops being produced it becomes more valuable. You should see how much a PCI graphics card costs these days, if you can find one. If your machine could run it you can get "2G DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz CL5" for au$45 at ijk.com Hope that helps. Cheers, Andrew. |
