Im a 15 year old who needs an at home job
 

I want to start building my own custom computer, but my parents won't give cash. I want a job at home, if any of you are offering one that takes 2-3 hours, if it involves someething simple such as excel, powerpoint, word, I am good at it. I can learn ASP, XML, Flash, Photoshop given a months time, does anyone have any offers or suggestions(just think about how much you were like me when you were 15!)?

When I was 15, I mowed lawns and refereed soccer games. Made good money refereeing on Saturday and Sunday. A bit of advice though, if you are a 15 year old boy, do not, I repeat, do not referee an 18 year old girls game. Man, I thought I was going to get beat up by a bunch of angry girls.:tisk:

twilli227, Jersey City doesn't have lawns! :eek: But I suspect the way to get temp work there is to pound the pavement. There are a lot of companies in Jersey City (ABN-AMRO has a huge data center there), and I would think at least some hire interns.

You need to go work outside and do hard labor like I did so that you can get a taste for it. You need to know you may not like this kind of work.

I can't stand the fact that most people I know have never really worked "hard".

I dug ditches with a pick and a shovel and ran a jack hammer for about 7 years before I became an Network Admin.

I really know how much I don't like to work outside. It makes some of the daily BS really easy to deal with :)

Go dig a ditch. Quit trying to get an easy slacker job ;)

I hear that.. lots of manual work here before my lazy sit in front of computer all day type job. Its good for some to get a taste of different jobs I would think.

Get a job at fast food or bus tables somewhere, some under estimate how hard some work in the food business, it can wipe you out.. ;)

I actually enjoyed my job mowing cemeteries...it was always nice and quiet.

I agree with this too...

I used to bus tables at a Bob Evans, and also wash dishes when I was there. It was hard work....and you went home messy and steamy every day.

When I was young, I worked on a farm. Nothing quite compares to cleaning out a barn. It's a whole different kind of messy and steamy. :eek:

Nothing like moving bails of hay by yourself, huh? I do this every sunday for one of my father's (retired) friends -- he rears and sells llamas. :eek: Lord, do they stink.

i used to work on a farm, outdoor work is great compared to office work but unfortunatly not well enough paid. if i could make a living off outdoor work i'd quit my degree in an instant.

Farms are always fun... I use to help my grandparents out on their small farm. I mainly liked to pick the blackberries cause I'd end up eating more than gathering in basket, get all sick from eating too many.. :p
No animals though, except their cat who loved to chase the rabbits out of the smaller garden.. ;)
I do have a brother in Tennessee who has farm with horses, that's always fun to go visit.

yes, get a tast for how much you hate manual labor. Before I got my tech job I worked for a summer in construction(laborer - basically did all the crap that no one else wanted to), worked at a grocery store stocking third shifts(after that asshole manager I swore I'd rather be homeless than work for another retail slave driver, I'll not go into why right now) and worked at an amusement park(nothing quite like walking back and forth checking restraints and pushing a little button till you have blisters the size of quarters.)

Anyway. I've tried the building custom computers thing. It works on just doing it for friends/parents of friends. Tell 'em how much of a piece of crap their old computers are and you can build 'em one that's a lot better for (often) a few hundred dollars than they originally paid for the computer they have.
