I'm *extremely* angry, fellow open source people

This delay... This htmlv4 released a year and htmlv5 released lots of years later... This perspective of htmlv6 released lots of years from now... This is just simply wrong.

Web, drop thinking it doesn't have a solution. Now.

IE 9 implements HTML 5. Have Firefox and Chrome implement HTML 7 to make IE implement HTML 6.
HTML is SO simple. Implementing it can't possibly be so hard. Make Firefox and Chrome use the real best programming language. if you care so much.

I don't know, fellow open source people. Just do it.

html is NOT so simple. a few td's and div's is easy, but the amount of stuff in HTML5 is HARD. And you'll not go far down the line before you find the money and commercial politics having a huge say too.

wpeckham 08-17-2011 11:39 AM

Chill out....

Seriously, take a few deep breaths and calm down.
90% of the web is still html 1.1 to html 4 with CSS (with CSS underused).

I am eager to see movement to newer standards that will replace java-script and flash, but unless you are one of the people doing implementation of those standards in the browser, you have no right to complain! It takes the time it takes. Wanna speed things up? Get coding!

How many years have you been using a computer? If it takes that long again for a new standard or two for HTML to evolve, will you survive? I expect that I will!

Don't be angry. Have a Guinness.

Moved: This thread has nothing to do w/ Linux software, it has no actual question, and as such is more suitable in <GENERAL> and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

Dude .... where to begin:
  • HTML is NOT a programming language
  • What you see as HTML code may appear simple, getting it to render is a different story
  • show us your own browser that renders the HTML6 draft, and the complain about others

Cheers,
Tink

Ok, if you don't like the pace then why not join in the development to speed up the process?

So arbitrarily changing version numbers is a solution now? I don't get it.

By that logic, you should be able to contribute to the development then right? Right, so off you go.

As said before, HTML is not a programming language it is a markup language. Perhaps you should look up what a programming language is.

Do what? Jump off a bridge? Mow the lawn? Sounds like that whole Judas Priest so-called 'hidden 'do it'' controversy now.

ramkatral 08-17-2011 08:49 PM

GAWD IT'S SO SIMPLE! There is NO reason there should be degrees dedicated ONLY to web design. I'm going to go create HTML 11. Gimme a couple of days. I'll show you all how LITTLE you know about PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES.... </sarcasm>

Here's HTML4 standard: http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-html40-19980424/
Grab it and try to implement it. Write a browser from scratch.

If you want to get it done faster, fund the development.

deltrem 08-18-2011 08:30 AM
