If you have nothing to hide...

I think Linux users are probably generally more aware of privacy issues than the general populace, and some of you may be interested in this paper. The link below offers the document in a .pdf file.

I picked it up from Debian Planet on a feed from the blog of Biella Coleman.

Thanks. Definately interesting (at page 16 now) from both a personal and professional POV. The "problem" (luxury) for me with this kind of material is that it invites to more and even more reading (older work)...

yes interesting

the people who say 'if you've got nothing to hide, then youve got nothing to fear' are quite possibly *THE* most stupid people on the planet. i hear that all the time, and then i say "well if youve got nothing to hide, why dont you allow the government to put up CCTV cameras in your living room?. as exagerated as that situation is, they still dont understand the point. its a slippery slope, and it happens very slowly over time, so that before you know where you are your in the place where the uk now finds itself, with more CCTV surveillance cameras than any other country in the world, and the feeling like your being watched all the time. that is not the feeling of a free country. britian is a backward country, instead of trying to prevent its problems (adolesent antisocial behaviour, criminal damage, even dropping litter) with education or preventative measures, we are reactionary, and use CCTV cameras, we cannot seem to manage ourselves properly here.
