Blue is actually one of my favorite colors but I really like the red for some reason. I guess there just too many sites that are blue based.

Cheers.

twilli227 12-06-2003 08:12 PM

I like the blue better. Seems that there are alot of sites with red.;)

quietguy47 12-06-2003 08:23 PM

blue

Whitehat 12-06-2003 08:27 PM

Blue :)

Just a quick note. I don't think it's so good that you appear to have taken everything from Redhat.com.

Your copyright looks just like their copyright.
https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/...galnotice.html

You really should look at this page

https://www.redhat.com/mirrors/LDP/LDP-COPYRIGHT.html

You are not to alter the copyright stuff so that it says your name instead of theirs. There is too much in common on your page with www.redhat.com and www.tldp.org

Not Good!:tisk:

To me the site would lose nothing by using either one.

I don't think so.

I got ideas from several sites

I used the Open Publication License. It just so happens Red Hat uses it for their docs.
http://www.opencontent.org/openpub/

If you'll look at the above site most the options on my copyright came from that page. I had to add Red Hat copyright info because they have their own copyrights.

I don't my page is like the LDP ???

I'm actually thinking about the gfdl and creative commons licenses.

Update: I've actually been working on my licenses and have changed them on all pages except my Manuals.

As for the rest, thanks for your opinions. :D

Whitehat 12-06-2003 09:18 PM

darthtux,

I have to say....I know that you are using the Open Publication License. I have no problem with what you are doing.

I just can't put my finger on why your stuff looks so similar to other stuff I've read. I know sooner or later I'll be back there reading and it will hit me that your site looks just like theirs.

I just think your site looks an aweful lot like some of the most popular linux documentation. Maybe that's because its all on OPL, but regardless I think I would make mine look different just for that reason.

Peace,
Whitehat

Whitehat 12-06-2003 09:24 PM

Dude,

THis is such BS.

I just went back to your site and You've taken out the stuff that I had a problem with.

I'm not talking about your copyright notice that is different. I know the one that is on the manuals is different than the other pages.

You changed it since I was there. It had some stuff in it about the redhat shadowman and whatnot that is not there now.

Great. I say something. You bitch back at me and then change it so if anyone else looks at it I look like a fool.

Next time just fess up to the fact that you did something you shouldn't have.

What crap!

darthtux 12-06-2003 09:29 PM

I don't understand Whitehat. My site has a header (all do). I list the documentation I am writing (none of what I wrote came form Red Hats docs, the Linux Documentation Projects docs, or any other documentation). I wrote (am writitng) every word myself.

If you think of why my site looks like theirs let me know. I just don't see it. (Could it be the color?)

If you or anyone has any ideas about how to change the layout let me know.

:)

I already said in my previous post that I was already updating the copyrights previously. If you can't read then I can't help it . If you can't read the OPL page I posted and why my copyright page was the way it was (and still is on my manuals pages as I already said = read) then don't reply.

First rule of posting
Think
then think
If you can't do the above then don't post.

P. S. I didn't "bitch" at you. Go start crap elsewhere please.

And Red Hat logos are copyrighted. I had every need to put that in the copyright. I did have red hat logos but took them off two weeks ago. AND BTW, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH A VERY SIMILAR COPYRIGHT NOTICE. If you think there is, that's your opinion. The GFDL and OPL are designed to be that way.

darthtux, that was the first thing I thought when I went to that site. I thought it was RedHat's. Maybe that is why I mentioned blue. It is not just the color, but the format.

Okay...is it the navigation links below the red header? Please give me more info. I mean the rest of my page is totally different.

I do appreciate the feedback :)

OK. This is going a bit too far. Let me tell you something. In about 10 minutes of me reading your site I hit refresh quite frequently. I also hit refresh 3 or 4 times on this thread page. During those 10 minutes You put an edit phrase into your thread stating that you were updating your copyright notices. You put that in only after I called you on it.

Secondly, You changed your signature to say Think, Think, then Edit. Then I hit refresh again and your Signature said Read, Think, Edit. Now you don't have a sig. I'm not the one going around and changing everything.

I suggest you take your own advice. I don't typically speak unless I'm damn sure that I'm right. You changed your site, your signature, and your thread text all after I called you on your "mess up".

I don't take kindly to this and I don't respect this kind of behavior. I will not post in this thread any more regarding this. I have lost any respect that I had for you. I can't believe that you go so far out of the way to make yourself look good instead of simply saying "my mistake".

Peace,
Whitehat

darthtux 12-06-2003 10:29 PM

If you're calling me a liar, then you're on my ignore list. I updated my copyright notices already and they were on my hard drive. Yes, I did upload them and I stated so. If you are that igorant, then so be it.

BTW, from a lot of your previous posts, I have already had little respect for you.
