I need a free e-mail provider...

I need a FREE e-mail provider with NO tag lines; the stupid ad attached to the bottom of every e-mail I send out.

Not gmail. Don't ask why.

EDIT: Never mind.

I am *REALLY* sorry, whoever's account this is. You left your account logged in the computer lab. I thought I was logged into my account, so I replied not being aware I was in your account.

Sorry again. Please remember to log out next time.

Well, not really. I was being sarcastic because I believe that google is miles ahead in the webmail business.

They also have free POP access, so if you hate their web interface you can always use your favourite email client.

Believe me, it's the best free web-based mail I've used and I couldn't understand your aversion to it.

Perhaps Cyberian you deleted your post because you were reminded of this thread?

I figured you had some special reason for your response to my post in this thread, so I guess I found the reason from past history.

Whoa, what a lot of confusion.

Who is this poster anyway and who left who's account logged in in who's computer?

Their spam filter is fantastic too. You can read an article I've written comparing gmail and Yahoo there in my blog. If you're interested you can read it (link in my sig block).

In comparison to google, Yahoo's spam filter is ridiculous and Yahoo still has annoying graphical ads. One would think that they should really pull their socks up and play catch up to google. Their interface is fantastic as well (though admittedly having a few issues with some browsers: but this is fast becoming a thing of the past).

An amazing achievement by google indeed!

Here's the reply again, in *MY* account. I was talking to my friend earlier and had a little incident.

I received a mail notifying me: I have a respond on my help-me thread.

Thinking a nice user just made a helpful response. I checked to find out I was wrong.

1. Because asking so does not help me.

2. Because this is not a debating thread.

3. Because this is not a chat room to talk about gmail.

4. Because not all browsers supports gmail. I forgot which browser I was using when I tried Gmail. I think Opera. Even if it does work now, it still doesn't cut it.

5. Because the ads on the right side eats up 40% of the page length. Making the paragraphs' sentences look cut off rather than wrap. I would be less bothered if the ads were on the very top or very bottom of the page.

6. Because I don't want to be associated with the 'Google Cult' that propagates quotes such as "Use/try Google", "Google is your friend", etc.

I am also getting tire of bombarded with Gmail Invites in my mailbox and ICQ. I ended up blocking some people in my mail list because they sent me a batch of Invites asking me to spread it around for them. Then they phoned me asking me to unblock them, and again asked me to convert to Gmail. Argh! The nerves!

It appears that some users have become Google drones and are now doing free advertaisement for Google. I don't want to be part of any of this.

I just tested it to see if indeed there is no tagline. And there is:

Everything is okay now, I know the guy. He's a good bud of mine. Also my computer partner, I didn't recognize his username at first since I call him by his real name. I was not aware he was using the forums earlier to check his PMs. I thought I got hacked when I saw a different username. We take/exchange notes together. We have a lot in common such as like Linux and dislikes Microsoft, Google, and brand name computers (that's why he is my partner). Probably explains the simularities. Enough chit-chat.

Sorry for the late re-reply. We are not suppose to be surfing the Net during class. Had to wait until the coast is clear.

Hi,

Just wanted to say, this is the REAL holder of this account. I was logged in earlier to check my Primate Messages. Didn't logout because I couldn't find the 'Logout' in the Main Menu on the top-right.

Wuya pointed out that I have to go back to the Home Page to find the 'Logout' option. Sorry for all the commotions. No hacking involved at all.

Back again. Everything is sorted out like I said. He stated my innocence in the above message.

See earlier explaination. So this makes it my first time meeting you.

According to 'Cyberian' as he is known here (don't ask for his real name), he says he only talked to you in that single thread. And doesn't even recognize your username until he revisted that link you posted.

This 'reason' that you are paranoid of, is not because of the 'past/history' (see my earlier explaination again.)

I countered because you posted off-topic! And my original message *clearly* says "Don't ask why". But you still posted and asked.

I just read the dead thread you posted. It appears that you did the same thing to him. He asked for something, and you were not helping. Instead, you were posting off-topic stuff, repeating what he disliked, and arguing with him.

No offence, but I think you should stop making off-topic posts when people ask for help. Just get to the point by answering the question instead of trying to debate the user out of it; have him or her withdraw the request for help. This way you avoid having the paranoia of others not liking you.

See... by getting off-topic, you started a domino-effect. Another user comes along, and replies off-topic, you reply to the domino-effected user's post, and my thread becomes hijacked. Now it is a 'Praise Gmail' thread.

Furthermore, you went more over and dug up some dead thread from 3 months ago, and made the matter personal through your paranoia.

What I found amazing aside from your likes of posting off-topic is, you remember a tiny incident between you him 'Cyberian' from 3 months ago!

Hey, no offence, but I think you should get over it. He cannot even remember your username. But you have his username stuck in your head like gum on the floor. I am his bud and I don't even remember his *Internet* username. No offence again, but you should go out more... Tracking everyone that made the slighlest remark to you and searching I-need-support threads to post off-topic and start a chat is not healthy.

I didn't. I still suggest gmail. If you cannot dig that, too bad. I cannot keep feeding your personal likes and dislikes. I can only make a suggestion based on my own experience.

Let me clarify. I genuinely thought that Cyberian had no business posting in this thread because he didn't ask that question. How was I to know that you people were best friends etc. etc. and that he didn't log out and so on and you made a mistake by posting from his account.

Check the post times between the time I posted my reply and the time the post was edited (a second time) for confirmation.

I'm done with all this nonsense...

If people make mistakes around here and I cannot have to freedom to make a suggestion based on my own experience, I choose to make my protest to the moderators.

Mr. Psychologist here obviously thinks I'm afflicted with paranoia. Let me state that all I had was a vague suspicion that I had some clash with Cyberian earlier and that I could find out by going through past threads (easily accessible from the User Profile). Honestly that's all I did. I had no memory of the earlier incident either.

It seems that some of us are better off not posting in one another's threads. Believe me, I promise to mark down your name so that I can studiously avoid you people, who are oversensitive and highly demanding. Check your first post sir, and read your post from a third person's point of view.

If you choose to say : "Not gmail. Don't ask me why." who on earth would not ask you? Believe me, my curiosity was genuine because I find gmail to be an excellent service (in spite of all your lame, unconvincing explanations) and I was interested in knowing what the problem was with gmail.

Still, no matter what, you can still use other mail providers by doing a bit of self-research. There's nothing like self-help believe me. I follow the same principle myself. Whenever I have a question like this I do plenty of searching around (I won't use the word "google" because you seem to have an aversion to it) before I post here asking in the forums and even then I take care to thank people who take the trouble to respond.

In short, before accusing me of hijacking this thread, perhaps the OP should actually take some time and think about what made me respond the way I did...
