I need a better place to vent, and so do you.
I've hijacked too many threads w/ my venting. If you have something to vent, lets do it here rather in someone else's thread.

Hi,
LQ Reputation System is the place for such content. You did not hi-jack that thread. It is the place for conversation about the rep system.

The manager of my apartment building is an incompetent husk of a human being who does not do his job.
Dear Manager,
As you know, it is well below freezing outside. As you also know, the heat in my apartment has ceased to function. This also goes for the two units adjacent to mine. I would like to point out that you have been home for two hours, and yet no work has been done to fix this problem. It is now 62 degrees in my apartment and it will only get colder as you continue to sit in front of the television and eat potato chips. My 4-month old son is in a jacket and wrapped in two blankets, as he feels quite cool, and is unable to adequately regulate his body temperature at such a young age.
I've contacted the landlords twice, who have in turn contacted you on your personal cell phone. I advise you to do as they say and not be on their bad side, as they already are considering firing you for stealing my rent.
By the way, as an employee of a company which manufactures and services heating systems, you should not be taking this long.
Sincerely,
I'm sick of your stupidity move out while you still can

Yes, but I felt as if I got off topic w/ a specific example of its misuse as opposed to the rep system in general.

Not trying to be obtuse, but perhaps you can put your 4-month old son ON your computer to warm him up. (You are joking right?)
Forrest
p.s. This isn't really what I had in mind (more about venting on LQ stuff), but who knows.

Actually we turned the oven on and left it open, creating an oasis of warmth in the kitchen, where we are taking turns holding him. He seems to be enjoying the experience.

No, you go ahead. Just because I started the thread, doesn't mean I own it. I am sorry that I thought it was a joke. Wishing you warm tidings on the eve of the giving of thanks.

What we do in my country - it does not feeze here - is we have a special coal and we burn that once (it smokes only in the begining) and then the coal becomes red hot and emits heat. Good quality coal can last for more than 24 hrs this way.
Sorry to hear about the situation you are in.

I hope thats a joke and I hope my reply doesn't hurt you I have seen many "senior" members asking others in their signature to click the thanks button and now the reputation button !?!?! I find this, a sort of "begging" for reputation points which I do not appreciate,
PS I think this thread will be closed soon

No worries. He fixed the heat, but now my son is grumpy. COINCIDENCE?
Next time this happens we will just head up to a friend's house with a nice wood stove. Just about every house in this part of Maine is equipped with a wood stove. Much more reliable than the archaic hot-water heaters which supply this building, yet more primitive... hm.

Yeah, it's a coincidence. He was enjoying being held in front of the stove. I'm guessing you are looking at "Top Chef 2033"!
Enjoy him while you can. My grandson turns 3 in January, and it seems like yesterday when I first held him in my arm (yes, one arm was enough).
Happy Turkey Day!!

That is of course assuming you have wood...
But anyway. I just use the LQ blogs for ranting.
It doesn't have to be directed at anyone and you have to go out of your way to read it... as long as the title is descriptive without being offensive, I don't think anybody will care. Additionally, you could start and LQ social group for ranting. That would equally be useful.

Well, what's the use in ranting if nobody is there to read it?
