I've been using Linux for around a year and a half with no need for Windows, so I finally deleted my Windows XP recovery partition. I'm finally 100% free of Windows and no longer have it feeding off of the blood of my first partition.
Eh, I still keep XP on my Ubuntu desktop's primary IDE drive, but I almost never use it...only reason I don't get rid of it is because I still might boot into it for games.
I've still got "real" XP Pro on my laptop, and "virtual" XP Pro in VBox on my desktop. I boot into them now and then, for updates and to remind myself how superior Linux is.

Actually, the first thing i do after logging in a PC i buy with preinstalled W$, is Shift+Delete NTLDR... if it is ( used to be XP ) ooopssss... ROFL
Since Vista and 7 I no longer have the patience it takes to perform a big-time screw up of W$... I just proceed with a *Nix install... Solaris, Slackware or Arch....
