I Deleted Yahoo!

I had a customer come into our shop today practically crying as she told me how she accidentaly deleted Yahoo from the Internet.

I politely told her that she just ruined the Internet for everyone :D :D

how nice.....

Oh another one that is just as good is when I'd have customers call when I did tech support for TimeWarner and get confused when I asked them to just reset their cable modem by unplugging the power chord to it for 30 seconds or so, so it could reinitialize to reconnect.

One lady took it offensively when she stated, "I don't understand what you mean by unplugging the power chord."
I simply said, "Its just like your toaster, there's a plug that goes into the power socket so it has power right? Same concept with the cable modem, you unplug the chord as it can't power itself."

;)

Dumb people should not own computers. Period. And old people shouldn't drive cars.... yeah.... that too.

I mean seriously, if all you want is to surf and read e-mail, buy web TV.

I always tell people I know that people should be required to take a test before they are allowed to purchase a computer.. and it doesn't all have to be questions regarding computers. ;)

I really can't think of any reason that someone that drives a run down pickup, with guns in the gunrack, while drinking shouldn't instead be at home asking stupid questions about a computer. Ditto for some other stereotypes....

Now if we could just get her to delete MSN, AOL, and Explorer :)

Whitehat 12-03-2003 10:55 PM

I just can't freakin' belive people.

:)

I had this lady come down to my desk today (mind you I'm a network dude...not the help desk) and start saying stuff to me about how this one application (some mom and pop shop app) that she was using crashed and she didn't know what to do. I'm like.......lady.....i know nothing about your application and you should just place a call to the help desk.

Why do people think they can just circumvent the system by walking to me?

So......I turned around and continued to mess with my SQL servers. She just kept talking. Like I do nothing but just sit there with my feet up until something crashes....

LOL....Moron :D

Wow.........

Just a little rant ;)

Some people are so dumb, reminds me of the first time I used DOS.

Code:

c:\> cd widows
Bad command or filename
c:\>stratis

Ummm, my name is stratis.

True.... but most of us also took the time on our own to become educated about using our systems. Being ignorant about something is fine in the begining, but I know peope who have been ignorant about computers for years and years.

And, of course, there's the classic:

*user minimizes window*

"AAAHHH! Where'd it go?!?! Help! The computer deleted my file!!!!"

*more computer-literate person walks by, unminimizes window*
(in awe) "Wow, what did you _do_?"
