Red face I asked a girl out recently

I asked a girl out over facebook. I met her very recently. She is neither giving me yes nor no.

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4503/screenshotwhu.jpg

She is not the type of a person who keeps things complicated. If she likes something, she will say she likes it, and if she finds something disturbing, she will immediately express her displeasure using some profanity....

I asked girls out a few times, and if she did not want to, all girls in the past clearly said no to me or gave me a detailed explanation to tell me why she did not want to go out with me, but this girl is simply not giving me any response.

Thanks

What gets me is the fact that people are that dependant upon technology so much, and some people have no social skills, ie like how to ask a girl/woman out in real life.

We're not all as handsome and perfect as you, you know.

puppymagic: I would take that as a no. If she wanted to go out with you she'd say yes. If you keep on at her then she'll start thinking you're some kind of stalker also.

Just because a man asks an advice on how to ask a woman out on the internet that does not mean he is a piece of crap. All people ask others for advices. Even experts constantly ask others for advices. Golf athletes always have coaches giving them advices even after they win multiple tournaments.

She did not say anything to me yet but,

When I saw no response from her after I told her to come out and see me, I also told her the following things.

"I will take it as a "no" but.... why didn't you simply say that."

and then I told her she won my heart.

She still did not say anything. I can see that she kept logging onto facebook.

Well I was not "asking her out" in this situation. The "asking out" or "asking to be my girlfriend" was going to happen when she does actually come out in public to see me.

I felt disappointed when she did not give me even a direct explicit "no" but I decided not to give up. If I want to succeed in anything in my life I must first learn not to give up that easily.

EDIT : I did a thorough research on her facebook and learned that she loves Chinese and Korean food. It will be somewhat easier for me if I ask her, "Would you like to come for a nice Korean dinner with me?"

Advice on how to ask a woman out? Simple...first, you DON'T USE THE INTERNET. Second, you go up, face to face, and say "Would you like to go out sometime?". Simple. There is no 'technique', no 'advice', no nothing...ask. If you can't talk to her face to face, how do you think the date will go?

So, let's see:
  • You monitor her Facebook activity
  • Told her she 'won your heart' (and bear in mind..you have NOT GONE OUT WITH HER, or even had a face-to-face conversation)'
  • Say 'WHEN she does actually come out in public to see you' (not IF)
  • Did "thorough research" about her and her favorite foods
  • ...and now have decided to 'not give up'.
You're acting like a class 1 stalker...if she was my daughter and I found out about behavior like this, you'd have a problem. Get up, go outside, and go up to her and ask her out. If she says no, THEN THE ANSWER IS NO...GROW UP AND MOVE ON.

And if you want to succeed in life, you actually have to DO SOMETHING. Don't sit behind a screen, 'monitoring' Facebook, and expect things to happen, and learn how to deal with rejection.

And is there some reason you keep posting stuff like this on LinuxQuestions? Granted, it's in the "General" forum, but most of your posts aren't Linux related at all.

That's a rather over-the-top thing to say to someone you haven't yet met.

That sort of statement would give most girls (and boys if the situation was reversed) a sense of uneasiness.

Asking to meet someone is just a first step, and a baby step at that. It's wise to take things one step at a time, and to take small, slow steps at that.

I would say that this is probably the cyber equivalent of pretending you didnt hear or see something to avoid embarassment to self or others. If she isnt responding just drop it. Dont dig the hole any deeper. Wait till she contacts you and if that never happens, accept it.

Red face

I did see her in person once. She is the best friend of one of the girls named Helen who comes to my church. I saw a few pictures of Kristen posted by Helen and I fell in love. A few days ago, I saw Kristen waiting for her bus at the bus stop and approached her and said hi to her and asked her "Do you have a friend named Helen?" (Of course she does. I just had to start a conversation) and I told her I saw her on several photos Helen posted a few times. I asked her name (Of course I knew what her name was. But I had to make sure not to scare her) and she told me her name and then she also asked me my name. She and I currently go to the same school (I knew that too) and she asked me a few questions about our school and I asked her if she is enjoying going to our school. And a couple of days later (of course I could have sent her a message on the same day but I had to SLOW DOWN) and told her that I am the tall guy she saw a couple of days ago and wished her luck for the remainder of her undergraduate. Then she said things similar back to me on facebook. Another while later I asked her if I can add her and we became friends on facebook. Fortunately, she is best friends with Helen and Kristen also saw that Helen and I are friends on facebook and that made Kristen feel less scared.

A couple of days later on her facebook status she used profanity and stated she was harrassed.

I sent her a letter to comfort her.

ok, I might be reading more responses on this thread, but I will no longer be making any more posts. Anything I say any further will be nothing more than an excuse to everyone on Linux Questions.

Maybe there will be a sticky note saying, "puppymagic should stop posting on General in LQ"

EDIT : Well, I was a bit exaggerating that "she won my heart" To be brutally honest, not quite. There were three girls in the past who truly won my heart and soul. Kristen is not one of them. She is, to be honest and to be exact, "someone I would not mind going out with" rather than "something I truly want to go out with".

I can't wait for her to find this thread, considering that you didn't even blur out the names in the screenshots.

That is a secondary concern IMO.
I find it disgusting that you have dared to reveal her name and the private
conversation in a public thread and that too "behind her back"!
Don't you respect her privacy!

Okay, perhaps this is a cultural difference.

I have to agree with this also.
