HP vectra 486/25n


will a hp vectra 486 25n with 4 megas memory boot linux ? and can any one please help me with the power supply connections on the motherboard , where can i find a picture and scheme with the voltage of all 12 pins ?

all i wanted to , is to have a text mode pc to talk on line in chat progams.

Hmmm... I'de try if you can pull it off, and does this thing have a CD-Rom, or are you going to install on a drive on one machine and transplant it?

Slackware has forever come with a boot kernel called lowmem.i, meant for handling machines with less than 8Mb of memory. 4 is cutting it though. Also, you're going to have to roll back a few distros, try Slack 4.x or 7.0, and make sure you have an ollllllllld NIC. You don't want to have to try and compile anything on this box (for about 10-15 hours).

Maybe...

If its PCI, which I doubt, just install Linux and then use "lspci" to figure out what the info on the card is. Plug that into google, or post it here and then you're ready to rock.

If its ISA, much more likely, start plugging any information you have about the card into google.com/linux to figure out what the module is for it, what the irq settings are going to be and whether it needs an i/o setting.

And about the power supply the pc i have dont have the connectors from the power supply to the motherboard they were cut off and i dont know what voltages to use cause it is diferent from the others boards i have see it has 13 spaces for connectors but only have 12 and i dont know the voltages it uses can you please help me on that question?
