For those in the IT Industry, specially sales, this is a vital question, How to Sell Linux ? Here is an article I came across in this regard:

Concentrate on a properly defined target group of users.

A nice example is Fervent Software with "Studio..to go!" - basically a Linux distribution concentrating on hobby, and semi-professional musicians by bundleling Jack, Rosegarden, Ardour, and other nice packages.
