how to mount the cd & copy the contents of the cd from terminal window in linux?
 
I am new to linux OS . I really donot know much commands. Hence I request you folks for urgent help.

Aloha,
mount/umount are the commands to mount and unmount a file system. For a CD, you will need to know which device it is. For instance, /dev/hdc. Then just make sure as root you create a dir in the /mnt directory, for instance, /mnt/cdrom. After that, do a "mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom" as root and that should mount the media.
cp is the copy command. For example cp <source> <destination> So for example,
"cp /mnt/cdrom/thisfile.txt /home/users_home" will copy thisfile.txt from the cd to the users_home directory.
These are just some basic examples...for complete details, use man.
"man mount" or "man cp" These will launch the manual page for that command, explain it and show you all the options you have available. To quit from man, press q.
