Not sure if this is the right forum? I'm sure the post will cause a stir.
I live in a remote area of the county. I like my privacy. The massing of Drone technology is causing the illegal use of private drones flying over my house. I would like a way of stopping this illegal use of these toys. I have found many links about downing military birds but this is not what I need. From my research, I see that civilian UAVs use two frequencies, WiFi( 2.4g ) or RC frequency( 433m ). I have found circuits for jamming drones but this is also illegal. So I would simply like to capture the drone.
Can I determine which frequency is in use by scanning? Is there any software for this?
What I am looking for are links to help me stop these guys.
If everything else fails, I always have my shotgun!
Thanks for your time and please be kind in your posts.
I wouldn't even bother trying anything else, I'd just start with the shotgun. Most places in the US are either considering or have passed laws saying if drones are over your property and aren't at a certain distance, it's the same as trespassing and you have the right to shoot them down.
I agree that UAVs--well, really, UAV "hobbyists" can be both annoying and dangerous. They materially interfered with persons fighting wild fires in California this summer because they just had to play with their toys.
