When first installing dualboot slckware/XP
xp reported that it requires the first partition for W1ND023 system.
So first of all u have to install XP on a first partition (say 4GB) and the rest goes to LINUX
But there ar no problems for dualbooting slackware/w2k as w2k happily agreed to intsall on 5th partition
Please confirm have you installed Win2k in the 5th partition? All logical partitions start at the 5th partition and none of the M$ system is known to be able to be booted from a logical partition.

You need to resize the hard disk to create another primary partition to install XP. Every system lives in its own partition.
You can install any number of M$ systems in the box and boot any of them with FC. However you need to use Grub to "hide" the Win9x partition (or other M$ partitions) if it is in front of XP.
Yeah you caught me. 5th partition was just a number I picked (I could not remember precisely on which partition I installed w2k), but the number of partition was higher than 3. What matters that w2k doesnt require 1st partition to be a W1nD023 one.
None of them does but they must be booted from the primaries.
I run 3 versions of DOS and 4 versions of Windows with the Linux and love to place these buggers into the end of the disk, something like hda60 if possible.

Humh? I wonder what number is greater than 3 but less than 5?
hda4 would have been OK because it can only be a primary or the extended partition. Nobody can store anything in an extended partition as it is just an envelope containing a large sets of logical partitions.
Thanks for your answers.
But I still don't understand. Now I must format my disk and install winxp, then reinstall FC4?
Or do I create a new partition and then install winXP? Before I install FC4, I create a primary partition by Partition Magic 8.0(PM8), now PM8 do not allow me to create a new primary partition. So I don't know how to create a new primary partition. Can you help me?
A hard drive can have a maximum of 4 primaries. If more partitions are needed one primary must be given up for the creation of an extended partition. You can have over 50 logical partitions in an IDE or 11 in a SATA.
Every Linux can be booted from a logical partition but M$ systems cannot survive without the primaries.
