How to duplicate a floppy?

Hello,
I have a software which need the floppy(enclosed with that software)
for identiication. I want to duplicate that floppy for backup. I have
tried the dos command (diskcopy). Unforunately, it doesn't work if I put the backup one for identiication. I don't know why. The two
floppys should be identical completely.
But why the software know the later one is not original ? What's
difference inside the floppy? How can I make a complete copy?
Thanks in advance.
