The cloud shall be free and open for all to use until such time that Cybernet decides to shut it all down and start shipping their model T-101's.

This is what is commonly referred to as "security by obscurity." It works just fine until it doesn't. It's like leaving the keys in your car. You can do it 10,000 times and still have a car. Then one day your car is just gone.

I think the single best indicator of cloud security is necessarily the integrity of the cloud provider. Would you trust a Facebook cloud?

Even then, if something is connected to the internet, it is inherently vulnerable. Remember the prescription for a completely secure computer: Unplug it from the wall, fill it with concrete, and, once the concrete hardens, drop it in a lake.

How secure is the cloud?

It's like taking everything that is in your house and bring it to another random house.

Obviously the things cannot be taken away from your house then anymore. So that must be mighty secure.
