How many threads have you guys seen that go off topic? Seems like nearly every thread I've seen at some point goes off on several tangents. Sometimes the original topic gets injected from time to time, but often the original topic is lost for good. Have you guys notied it?
I think Gnome will easily beat KDE as the Linux desktop of choice in the future. KDE is a fine desktop environment, but since the Qt tool kit is only free for OSS projects, I believe that commercial software companies will port their apps to Gtk instead as Linux' desktop market share increases --

Huh? Oh... sorry
I don't know about that, with KDE being more "Windows-like" in its layout and everything, and with KDE being more customizeable (so far that I have seen), I think most end users will be wanting to use KDE, so closed-source software written for Gnome only may not sell as well. Thus, the developers will be looking for ways to make KDE software, whatever the cost, and the problem of finding decent OSS development tools won't last long.
...but then again, you may be right. All the programs may start appearing for Gnome, so the end users will likely in time get used to Gnome a bit more. ...but doesn't KDE typicaly have libraries to let it use Gnome programs properly?
