How many hours of difference are there between London and New York? Wikipedia has a timezones map and East time is marked as '6 PM'. The article is large. I then thought that, when installing the O.S. the installer ask for my time zone. So I look up in the desktop environment for something like a control panel. I had Settings>Orage and, within this there was a ... well, tis not a technical subforum. The thing is that either I subscribe to a mailing list in Xfce or ask the LQ guys. I pick up the latter.

Note: I have also my Collier's but its a little out of date.

Why? You've got everything in the link provided. You can do the maths, can't you?:)

New York is UTC +5 standard time.

Besides the link provided above, you can use gworldclock for these situations (it's in the Debian repos, so I guess it should be in the Slackware repos, as well). I always use it to know what time is it in other countries, when I have the need to.
