Question How can i manage data on my server?


Hi everyone

now i got problem on my growing data.
i own design company , we do web design, priting design

problem is when data bigger and bigger, i think to backup it on DVD on somewhere, but some of work we still have to use it sometime

to update or something.

i now current store it in Harddisk, it almost full now, and if i buy more hard disk, it think onw day it will happend again

so i would like to ask that

how can other company manage with this problem,

if anyone know or would like to suggest me please tell me

You would usually have multiple disks in a fault-tolerant RAID array, and then on top of that have some sort of backup plan that runs every day or every week (depending on how active you are with this data).

It sounds like you are trying to update or maintain the backup data itself, which is not what you want to be doing. You would do any updates or maintenance on the data that is actually on the drive array, and then let that get backed up automatically during the next backup. Once you have a backup of the data, you don't try and go back and change that, you just leave it on a shelf or in a safe and hope you never have to use it.

I would set up a large RAID array and back it up to tape, DVD, bluray, or external hard drive.
