I don't know. Situations looks pretty equal, although fighting minions with rocks looks like a bit of more fun.
Well, maybe. But, I think most people don't appreciate what they have. That's fine, the global crash may help them realize what they have by taking it away from them. That will either drive them to depression or suicide, or snap them out of it.

Agreed.
Lots of people don't know what they have until they've lost it.When this happens then sometimes a suicide is a "solution" for the problem.
The only time I would consider suicide is if I was diagnosed as suffering from some incurable wasting disease, where I would eventually and inevitably become a vegetable and a burden to others.

That to me is a reasonable request regarding that situation. I however can't understand these 'pro-life' folks who insist on keeping a person artificially alive through machines, even though there is no chance that there will ever be a change in that person's condition. I don't see how it is considered 'humane' to keep someone who has been either braindead for years, or in a coma that is pretty much permanent if it has been well over a decade with no change at all. See: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7875528.stm
Then again these pro-life folks were always funny in their thinking. To quote the Late Great George Carlin: "Pro life people want live babies to grow up to become dead soldiers!"

Yeah, unfortunately, the demons won't even let you die, even when you're braindead. You're probably right, I would hate to be braindead (beforehand), because it would be a huge burden on my family and for no use. And in many cases, the authorities won't even let me die in such a situation, they wanna keep my undead body on life support permanently hoping for a miracle that will never happen. That really pisses me off, and yes brianL, in this case I would be forced to commit suicide, as much as I regret doing it.
EDIT: thanks for the link Jeebizz

There was a play, based on fact, on the BBC recently that dealt with this subject, called "A Short Stay In Switzerland". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a80aS...2442E&index=10
It's in several parts, but well worth watching.

By the way, to my opinion, world-wide economical crisis (losing job, money, etc.) is a very poor excuse for suicide.
I have never considered suicide. I have given it thought in an analytical fashion.
Could I do away with myself if I suffered catastrophic tragedy? Could I do away with myself if I was suffering extreme physical pain and sickness? Hard to say till one has to face the events.
Several years ago a workmate committed suicide. We worked together for several years. He had a wife and two kids. He lived less than 3 miles from me. He was very good at his job. He was a happy fellow. I still think about him and what drove him to suicide.
I must ask ... are you kidding ? ... or I guess you might be rich, or you might have what you want, or you might expect very little from life ... but are you kidding ?
I honestly don't know what gives suicide such a bad rep - heck it's even illegal in some countries like your life would be somebody elses (or the governments) property.
I'd bite the bullet any day if somebody tells me I got a uncureable disease.I've seen some people die over month being in a not even zombielike state and that didn't look like something to look forward to.

I'm tempted to commit suicide while just thinking about the activities of the two main organizations Exit and Dignitas in my country. (Sorry, bad joke life is great and worth living, besides, I am afraid of dying).
I know several young people who registered with these groups.
It takes courage to commit suicide even though it is generally considered to be an easy way out solution.
