Ghost at work?

I live very close to work, and my boss called up for me to open the garage so she could return some folding tables. I ran down, deactivated the alarm, turned on the light, and headed toward the other end of the building to the garage. Approaching the door, I saw the shadow of footsteps under the door. How could that be,the alarm was on? Opened the door, the garage was empty. I opened the main garage door. When my boss came, I said, "I came in, turned off the alarm, turned on the light, and saw under the door, some one walking on the other side. After my boss dropped of the tables and left, I went out the side door to turn the alarm back on and leave. The light was off! There was a trail from that door to the front that looked like something was dragged. I hadn't noticed it when I came in.

Given that ghosts / zombies / tooth fairies / gods don't exist, no, there was no ghost.

Janine Melnitz: [answers the phone] Hello, Ghostbusters... Yes, of course they're serious... You do?... You have?... No kidding! Just gimme the address... Oh sure, they will be totally discreet. Thank you!
[hangs up]
Janine Melnitz: WE GOT ONE!

It must have just been a glitch in the system. Either that, or the first sign of the apocalypse.

jschiwal 12-07-2012 06:31 AM

A glitch in the Matrix?

Sounds like you had to travel a short distance between deactivating the alarm and seeing the alleged ghost. Is there any way for a person near the main garage door to tell when the alarm has been switched off? For example, by seeing you go to the alarm panel?

Consider: Another employee remembers he left something from the garage, and goes to grab it. On the way said employee sees the light come on, realises the alarm will be off, and quickly unlocks the door. He grabs the item and leaves through the other door, expecting to meet whoever it was that unlocked the building. Instead, he finds it empty, because you went the other way. Being in a bit of a hurry, he carries on out the other exit and goes home, thinking that whoever opened up will also lock up when they leave - after all, he left the garage door as he found it (locked), so it's not like he created a security risk.

This could, of course, work equally well if the mystery person was a 'she,' or a thief, or an ondageist...

How well did you see this?

> trail from that door to the front that looked like something was dragged

Check your rodent traps. Check your alarm.

I think it was a ninja, and you are very lucky to be alive.

Funny. I'm the only one at my workplace who hasn't noticed any ghosts there. I probably should get checked by a psychiatrist or something ;)

Ok, you saw me.
But is it necessary tell this story to all? :\

Anyway, the light give me annoyance. Next time, please, turn off.

Thanks.

At the end they showed a ninja on video ... something extremely rare.

In jschiwal's case, he could sense the ninja's presence, but never actually saw him. It could have also been a ghost, but ghosts can pass through objects, and they usually like to scare people.

NyteOwl 12-08-2012 02:10 PM

It wasn't a ghost it was a gremlin. Just put away the snacks and make sure the water cooler doesn't have a leak. :D

Light was put off by the boss lady.

She was dragging the folding chairs.

And as to the shadows, they're just that SHADOWS - after you first turned on the light.

OK
